| We have given them our hearts to mend and cautiously handle yet they break the small pieces that have left | B |

| We were drawn to the fists that we learnt and hoped will protect us from all rivals it's Sad how we wish to excavate them from our skin | C |
| In the jolly moments of embracing the kisses they showered us with we had to learn to be numb to the venomous words they uttered | D |

| It's Sad how we have to go from sharing our darkest secrets with them to hiding the bruises they gift to us | E |
| We still hold on tight to the love we preach and the responsibility to keep our feelings to ourselves | F |

| From wondering what we have done to deserve the care they show us to throwing wonders on what we have done to earn the pain they have taught us | E |
| I hope they find it in their hidden charismatic hearts to forgive us as we have already suffered enough | G |

Poet's note: Gender-based Violence has become an issue in South Africa. It is gradually spreading. Women are being killed by the men they are close to .I Thought writing this poem would knoch some sense in our men.
