Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMMMFJNOP Q

She does this thing Our seventeenA
year old dog Our mostly deaf dogB
Our mostly dead dog statisticallyC
speaking When I crouchD
When I put my mouth to her earE
and shout her name She walks awayF
Walks toward the nothing of speechG
She even trots down the drive ears upH
as if my voice is coming homeI
It s like watching a childJ
believe in Christmas rightK
before you burn the tree downL
Every time I do it I think this timeM
she ll turn to me This timeM
she ll put voice to face This timeM
I ll be absolved of decayF
Which is like being a childJ
who believes in ChristmasN
as the tree burns as the drapes catchO
as Santa lights a smokeP
with his blowtorch and asks want oneQ
