Prodigal Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGDHICJKLCCCDMN CCOJPQR

You could drive out of this countryA
and attack the world with your ambitionB
invent wonder plasmasC
become an artist of the provocative gestureD
the suggestive nod you could leaveE
wanting the world and returnF
carrying it a noisy bundleG
of steam and libido a ball of fireD
balanced on your tongueH
you might reclaim Main Street in a limoI
longer than a sermon wave at our red facesC
while remembering that you were bornJ
a clod hopper a farmer s kidK
and get over that hump once and for allL
by telling A Great Man s storiesC
the dirty jokes of dictators tidbitsC
of presidential hygiene insightsC
into the psychotropic qualities of powerD
and the American tradition of kissingM
moneyed ass Your uncle would stillN
call you Roy Boy pheasantsC
sun themselves beside the tracksC
waiting for the dew to burn offO
before their first flight and cornJ
grow so high that if you stoodP
in the field you d disappear the factQ
aiming your eyes down the roadR
