In Michael Robins-s Class Minus One Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIAJAKLMNOPQR STIUVWXK

At the desk where the boy sat he sees the Chicago RiverA
It raises its handB
It asks if metaphor should burnC
He says fire is the basis for all forms of the mouthD
He asks why did you fill the boy with your goingE
I didn't know a boy had been added to me the river saysF
Would you have given him back if you knewG
I think so the river says I have so many boys in meH
I'm worn out stroking eyes looking up at the dayI
Have you written a poem for us he asks the riverA
and the river reads its poemJ
and the other students tell the riverA
it sounds like a poem the boy would have writtenK
that they smell the boy's cigarettesL
in the poem they feel his teethM
biting the pageN
And the river asks did this boy dream of horsesO
because I suddenly dream of horses I suddenly dreamP
They're in a circle and the river says I've never understoodQ
round things why would leaving come backR
to itselfS
And a girl makes a kiss with her mouth and leans itT
against the river and the kiss flows awayI
but the river wants it back the river makes soundsU
to go after the kissV
And they all make sounds for the river to carry to the boyW
And the river promises to never surrender the boy's shapeX
to the oceanK
