Rhyme Scheme: AA BBCCCCDDE FF DDGGGGBBE HH

The tall carnations down the garden walksA
Bowed on their stalksA
-
Said Jock a dreams to John a nodsB
What are the oddsB
That we shall wake up here within the sunC
When time is doneC
And pick up all the treasures one by oneC
Our hands let fall in sleep You have begunC
To mutter in your dreamsD
Said John a nods to Jock a dreamsD
And they both slept againE
-
The tall carnations in the sunset glowF
Burned row on rowF
-
Said John a nods to Jock a dreamsD
To me it seemsD
A thousand years since last you stirred and spokeG
And I awokeG
Was that the wind then trying to provokeG
His brothers in their blessed sleep They chokeG
Who mutter in their nodsB
Said Jock a dreams to John a nodsB
And they both slept againE
-
The tall carnations only heard a sighH
Of dusk go byH
