Rhyme Scheme: AB AB ACAD EFEF GHGH AIAJ AKAK AGAG AAAA ALAL MINI OCOC APAP

Cornel cornel green and whiteA
Spreading on the forest floorB
-
Whither went my lost delightA
Through the silent doorB
-
Mortal mortal overfondA
How come you at all to knowC
There be any joys beyondA
Blisses here and nowD
-
Cornel cornel white and coolE
Many a mortal I've heard tellF
Who is only Fancy's foolE
Knows that secret wellF
-
Mortal mortal what would youG
With that beauty once was yoursH
Perishable is the dewG
And the dust enduresH
-
Cornel cornel pierce me notA
With your sweet reserved disdainI
Whisper me of things forgotA
That shall be againJ
-
Mortal we are kinsmen ledA
By a hope beyond our reachK
Know you not the word unsaidA
Is the flower of speechK
-
All the snowy blossoms fadedA
While the scarlet berries grewG
And all summer they evadedA
Anything they knewG
-
Cornel cornel green and redA
Flooring for the forest wideA
Whither down the ways of dreadA
Went my starry eyedA
-
Mortal mortal is there foundA
Any fruitage half so fairL
In the dim world undergroundA
As there grows in airL
-
Wilding cornel you can guessM
Nothing of eternal painI
Growing there in quietnessN
In the sun and rainI
-
Mortal where your heart would beO
Not a wanderer may goC
But he shares the dark with meO
Underneath the snowC
-
And the scarlet berries scatteredA
With the coming on of fallP
Not to one of them it matteredA
Anything at allP
