paused to shut the door	B
A fellow called the Wind	C
With mystery before	B
And reticence behind	C

A portal waits me too	D
In the glad house of spring	E
One day I shall pass through	D
And leave you wondering	E

It lies beyond the marge	F
Of evening or of prime	G
Silent and dim and large	F
The gateway of all time	G

There troop by night and day	H
My brothers of the field	I
And I shall know the way	H
Their woodsongs have revealed	I

The dusk will hold some trace	J
Of all my radiant crew	D
Who vanished to that place	J
Ephemeral as dew	D

Into the twilight dun	K
Blue moth and dragon fly	L
Adventuring alone	M
Shall be more brave than I	L

There innocents shall bloom	N
And the white cherry tree	O
With birch and willow plume	N
To strew the road for me	O

The wilding orioles then	P
Shall make the golden air	A
Heavy with joy again	P
And the dark heart shall dare	A

Resume the old desire	Q
The exigence of spring	E
To be the orange fire	Q
That tips the world's gray wing	E
