Toast For The Men Of Eidsvold Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCDD EFFEFFGG

'Twas then this land of ours we drewA
From centuries of ice and sorrowB
And let it of the sun's warmth borrowB
And law and plow brought order newA
We dug the wealth in mountain treasuredC
Our stately ships the oceans measuredC
And springtime thoughts were free to runD
As round the Pole the midnight sunD
-
And still with God we'll conquer holdE
Each plot reclaimed for harvest reapingF
Each ship our sea takes to its keepingF
Each child soul we to manhood moldE
Each spark of thought our life illumingF
Each deed to fruit of increase bloomingF
A province adds unto our landG
And o'er our freedom guard shall standG
