To Hans Christian Andersen Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCBDDEEFG HHIIHJJKKLL

We welcome you this wondrous summer dayA
When childhood's dreams on earth are streamingB
To bloom and sing to brighten and to paleC
A fairy taleC
A fairy tale our Northland all is seemingB
And holds you in its arms a festal spaceD
With grateful glee and whisperings face to faceD
Th' angelic noiseE
Sweet strains of children's joysE
Bears you a moment to that homeF
Whence all our dreams whence all our dreams have comeG
-
We welcome you Our nation all is youngH
Still in that age of dreams enthrallingH
When greatest things in fairy tales are nursedI
And he is firstI
And he is first who hears his Lord's high callingH
Of childhood's longings you the meaning knowJ
And to the North a goal of greatness showJ
Your fantasyK
Has just that path made freeK
Where past the small things that you hateL
We yet shall find we yet shall find the greatL
