The Tree Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBA CCBBC DDEED

Ready with leaves and with buds stood the treeA
Shall I take them the frost said now puffing with gleeA
Oh my no let them standB
Till flowers are at handB
All trembling from tree top to root came the pleaA
-
Flowers unfolding the birds gladly sungC
Shall I take them the wind said and merrily swungC
Oh my no let them standB
Till cherries are at handB
Protested the tree while it quivering hungC
-
The cherries came forth 'neath the sun's glowing eyeD
Shall I take them a rosy young girl's eager cryD
Oh my yes you can takeE
I've kept them for your sakeE
Low bending its branches the tree brought them nighD
