ThoughA
sheB
depart a vision flittingC
If I these thoughts in words exhaleD
I love you you blonde maiden sittingC
Within your pure white beauty's veilD
I love you for your blue eyes dreamingC
Like moonlight moving over snowA
And 'mid the far off forests beamingC
On something hid I may not knowA
-
I love this forehead's fair perfectionE
Because it stands so starry clearF
In flood of thought sees its reflectionE
And wonders at the image nearF
I love these locks in riot risenE
Against the hair net's busy bandsG
To free them from their pretty prisonE
Their sylphs entice my eyes and handsG
-
I love this figure's supple swingingC
In rhythm of its bridal songH
Of strength and life joy daily singingC
With youthful yearnings deep and longH
I love this foot so lightly bearingC
The glory of sure victoryB
Through youth's domain of merry daringC
To meet first love that hers shall beB
-
I love these hands these lips enchantingC
With them the God of love's alliedI
With them the apple prize is grantingC
But guards them too lest aught betideI
I love you and must say it everJ
Although you heed not what you've heardK
But flee and answer maidens neverJ
May put their trust in poet's wordK
