The whole earth shook with proud emotion | B |
And honor to the giant paid | A |

A king came to him climbing up | C |
An Order in his one hand bearing | D |
'Who great become this sign are wearing ' | - |
The growling giant said but 'Stop ' | - |

The frightened king fell down again | E |
Began to weep with features ashen | B |
'My Order is in this rude fashion | B |
Refused by just the greatest men | E |

'My dear man take it 't is but fit | F |
Of your king's honor be the warder | G |
On your breast greater grows the Order | G |
And we who bear it too by it ' | - |

The Arctic giant was too good | H |
A foible oft ascribed to giants | I |
Who foolish trust in little clients | I |
He took it while we mocking stood | H |

But all the kings crept to him then | E |
And each his Order brought to know it | F |
Thereby renewed and greater so it | F |
Gave rank to needy noblemen | E |

Honi soit | F |
and all the rest | F |
Soon Orders covered all his breast | F |
But oh they greater grew no tittle | J |
And he grew so confounded little | J |
