Our Forefathers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFCGCG EHEHEIEI

High memories with powerA
Shine through the wintry NorthB
On every peak's white towerA
On Kattegat so swarthB
All is so still and spaciousC
The Northern Lights flow freeD
Creating bright and graciousC
A day of memoryD
-
Each deed the North defendingE
Each thought for greater mightF
A star like word is sendingE
Down through the frosty nightF
To hope they call and boldnessC
And call with double cheerG
To him defying coldnessC
On guard the Eider nearG
-
No anxious shadows cloudingE
No languid lukewarm mistH
Our heaven of mem'ries shroudingE
This eve of battle trystH
May as of yore while ringingE
The bells unseen loud swelledI
Come leaders vict'ry bringingE
Whom th' army ne'er beheldI
