And glad exclaimed Oh this must sheltered be | D |
Must seed produce renewing birth | E |
In sun warmed earth | E |
Become a thousand | F |

But as he dug and drew it from the ground | G |
Strange glitterings upon his hands he found | G |
For to its roots clung dust of golden hue | A |
The flower grew | A |
On golden treasure | C |

And from the region wide came all the youth | H |
To see the wonder they divined the truth | H |
Here lay their country's future might | I |
A ray of light | I |
From God that flower | C |

This I recall now even while I mourn | J |
The Lord of life has lifted him and borne | J |
From mountain cold and wintry air | K |
To fruitage fair | K |
In warmth eternal | L |

For where the roots were of that life replete | M |
What gleams and glitters See they ran to meet | M |
The shafts of wisdom's goodly mines | N |
The gold that shines | N |
In veins of God's thought | O |

Now he is lifted up to light are brought | O |
The riches he to guard so faithful sought | O |
The treasures of our past are there | K |
And glintings rare | K |
Of future riches | P |

Come Norway's youth Unearth to use the hoard | Q |
That round this heaven borne flower's roots was stored | Q |
