Landfall Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD AEFEGG AHIHJJ

And that was Olaf TrygvasonA
Going o'er the North Sea grimB
Straight for his home and kingdom steeringC
Where none awaited himB
Now the first mountains towerD
Are they walls on the ocean that lowerD
-
And that was Olaf TrygvasonA
Fast the land seemed locked at firstE
All of his youthful kingly longingsF
Doomed on the cliffs to burstE
Until a skald discoveredG
Shining domes in the cloud mists that hoveredG
-
And that was Olaf TrygvasonA
Seemed to see before his eyesH
Mottled and gray some timeless templeI
Lifting white domes to the skiesH
Sorely he longed to win itJ
Stand and hallow his young faith within itJ
