I Passed By The House Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFFGGDD HHIJDDGG

I passed by the house one summer dayA
Morning sunshine upon it layA
Toward the windows that blood red burnedB
Flaming my soul was turned was turnedB
There spring had found meC
And captive bound meC
To lissome hands and soft lips enthrallingD
To smiles now stained by the teardrops fallingD
-
Till the view from my vision diesE
To it backward I send my eyesE
All that was becomes new and nearF
The forgotten grows warm and dearF
Mem'ries wanderG
While this I ponderG
And from the springtime all love's sweet dreamingD
Forward and back in my soul is streamingD
-
Joyous that time and joyous nowH
Sorrow that time and sorrow nowH
Sun on meadows bedewed appearsI
Soul in mem'ries of smiles and tearsJ
When they wakingD
Their bounds are breakingD
When streams their ebbing with sinking powerG
The soul bears poetry's bud and flowerG
