Frida Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGGG CCCC FFDD

Frida I knew that thy life years were countedA
If but before thee a lifting thought mountedA
Upward thy gaze turned all wistful to view itB
As wouldst thou pursue itB
-
Eyes that so clear saw the wonderful visionC
Looked far away beyond earth's indecisionC
Snow white unfolded the pinions that laterD
Bore thee to the greaterD
-
Speaking or asking thou broughtest me sorrowE
Eyes thine and words thine seemed wanting to borrowE
Clearness more pure and thoughts victory gainingF
Beyond my attainingF
-
When thou wert dancing in all a child's lightnessG
Shaking thy locks like a fountain in brightnessG
Laughing till heaven was opened in gladnessG
Over thy gladnessG
-
Or when affliction in sternness had spokenC
So that thy heart in that moment seemed brokenC
Far from thy thoughts in thy suffering rivenC
Were both earth and heavenC
-
Then oh I saw then thy joy and thy grievingF
Ever the bounds of the mortal were cleavingF
All seems so little where silent we ponderD
But room they have yonderD
