A still procession goesA
Amid the battle's boomingB
Its arm the red cross showsA
It prays in many forms of speechC
And bending o'er the fallenD
Brings peace and home to eachC
-
Not only is it foundE
Where bleed the wounds of battleF
But all the world aroundE
It is the love the whole world feelsG
In noble hearts and tenderH
While gentle pity kneelsG
-
It is all labor's dreadI
Of war's mad waste and murderH
Praying that peace may spreadI
It is all sufferers who heedJ
The sighing of a brotherH
And know his sorrow's needJ
-
It is each groan of painK
Heard from the sick and woundedL
'T is Christian prayer humaneK
It is their cry who lonely gropeM
'T is the oppressed man's moaningB
The dying breath of hopeM
-
This rainbow bridge of prayersG
Up through the world's wild tempestN
In light of Christ's faith bearsG
That love and loving deedsG
May conquer strife and passionD
For thus His promise readsG
