Snow Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDD EFGHB DIDJK DALID MMMMN OOOMO PQDBD RABST

Today we woke up to a revolution of snowA
its white flag waving over everythingB
the landscape vanishedC
not a single mouse to punctuate the blanknessD
and beyond these windowsD
-
the government buildings smotheredE
schools and libraries buried the post office lostF
under the noiseless driftG
the paths of trains softly blockedH
the world fallen under this fallingB
-
In a while I will put on some bootsD
and step out like someone walking in waterI
and the dog will porpoise through the driftsD
and I will shake a laden branchJ
sending a cold shower down on us bothK
-
But for now I am a willing prisoner in this houseD
a sympathizer with the anarchic cause of snowA
I will make a pot of teaL
and listen to the plastic radio on the counterI
as glad as anyone to hear the newsD
-
that the Kiddie Corner School is closedM
the Ding Dong School closedM
the All Aboard Children's School closedM
the Hi Ho Nursery School closedM
along with some will be delighted to hearN
-
the Toadstool School the Little SchoolO
Little Sparrows Nursery SchoolO
Little Stars Pre School Peas and Carrots Day SchoolO
the Tom Thumb Child Center all closedM
and clap your hands the Peanuts Play SchoolO
-
So this is where the children hide all dayP
These are the nests where they letter and drawQ
where they put on their bright miniature jacketsD
all darting and climbing and slidingB
all but the few girls whispering by the fenceD
-
And now I am listening hardR
in the grandiose silence of the snowA
trying to hear what those three girls are plottingB
what riot is afootS
which small queen is about to be brought downT
