Invention Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DAE FDG HIJ KLM NOP

Tonight the moon is a crackerA
with a bite out of itB
floating in the nightC
-
and in a week or soD
according to the calendarA
it will probably lookE
-
like a silver footballF
and nine maybe ten days agoD
it reminded me of a thin bright clawG
-
But eventuallyH
by the end of the monthI
I reckonJ
-
it will waste awayK
to nothingL
nothing but stars in the skyM
-
and I will have a few nightsN
to myselfO
a little time to rest my jittery penP
