with a bite out of it | B |
floating in the night | C |

and in a week or so | D |
according to the calendar | A |
it will probably look | E |

like a silver football | F |
and nine maybe ten days ago | D |
it reminded me of a thin bright claw | G |

But eventually | H |
by the end of the month | I |
I reckon | J |

it will waste away | K |
to nothing | L |
nothing but stars in the sky | M |

and I will have a few nights | N |
to myself | O |
a little time to rest my jittery pen | P |
