A Keynote [extract] Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFG HIJI GKGK LMLM NONO

Heard from the speaking stones that strewA
The hillside of SuccessB
From spheres whose harmonies anewA
Can those who listen blessB
-
From breaths of every sacred isleC
By which my Muses moveD
Released from battle's claim a whileC
In Brendan voyage of LoveE
-
From shambles of the DispossessedF
From Croesus in his styG
From old Democracy obsessedF
By fiends about to dieG
-
Read in the scars of veteransH
In Want's resultless frayI
In noon day Science' futile plansJ
To yoke the soul to clayI
-
In watchings of the social skyG
And soundings of its deepK
And where Oppression's vultures flyG
And sad Redeemers weepK
-
'Neath living palimpsests of PainL
On shards of deathless songM
hi God's magnificent disdainL
Of Might enthroned on WrongM
-
Read where unheeded outcasts groanN
And waits Rebellion's formO
These verses voice an undertoneN
The prelude to a stormO
