A Sonnet, To The Noble Lady, The Lady Mary Wroth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBCABBADEFGHHI that have been a lover and could show it | A |
Though not in these in rhymes not wholly dumb | B |
Since I exscribe your sonnets am become | B |
A better lover and much better poet | C |
Nor is my Muse or I ashamed to owe it | A |
To those true numerous graces whereof some | B |
But charm the senses others overcome | B |
Both brains and hearts and mine now best do know it | A |
For in your verse all Cupid's armory | D |
His flames his shafts his quiver and his bow | E |
His very eyes are yours to overthrow | F |
But then his mother's sweets you so apply | G |
Her joys her smiles her loves as readers take | H |
For Venus' ceston every line you make | H |
