A Hymn On The Nativity Of My Savior Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDB EEFGGF HHFIIF JJKLMK

I sing the birth was born tonightA
The Author both of life and lightA
The angels so did sound itB
And like the ravished shepherds saidC
Who saw the light and were afraidD
Yet searched and true they found itB
-
The Son of God the eternal KingE
That did us all salvation bringE
And freed the soul from dangerF
He whom the whole world could not takeG
The Word which heaven and earth did makeG
Was now laid in a mangerF
-
The Father's wisdom willed it soH
The Son's obedience knew no NoH
Both wills were in one statureF
And as that wisdom had decreedI
The Word was now made Flesh indeedI
And took on Him our natureF
-
What comfort by Him do we winJ
Who made Himself the Prince of sinJ
To make us heirs of gloryK
To see this Babe all innocenceL
A Martyr born in our defenseM
Can man forget this storyK

Ben Jonson
