RISE Sleep no more T is a noble mornA
The dews hang thick on the fringed thornA
And the frost shrinks back like a beaten houndB
Under the steaming steaming groundB
Behold where the billowy clouds flow byC
And leave us alone in the clear gray skyC
Our horses are ready and steady So hoD
I m gone like a dart from the Tartar s bowE
Hark hark Who calleth the maiden MornA
From her sleep in the woods and the stubble cornA
The horn the hornA
The merry sweet ring of the hunter s hornA
-
Now thorough the copse where the fox is foundB
And over the stream at a mighty boundB
And over the high lands and over the lowD
O er furrows o er meadows the hunters goD
Away as a hawk flies full at its preyF
So flieth the hunter away awayF
From the burst at the cover till set of sunG
When the red fox dies and the day is doneG
Hark hark What sound on the wind is borneA
T is the conquering voice of the hunter s hornA
The horn the hornA
The merry bold voice of the hunter s hornA
-
Sound Sound the horn To the hunter goodH
What s the gulley deep or the roaring floodI
Right over he bounds as the wild stag boundsJ
At the heels of his swift sure silent houndsJ
O what delight can a mortal lackK
When he once is firm on his horse s backK
With his stirrups short and his snaffle strongL
And the blast of the horn for his morning songL
Hark hark Now home and dream till mornA
Of the bold sweet sound of the hunter s hornA
The horn the hornA
O the sound of all sounds is the hunter s hornA
