Sit Down, Sad Soul Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCB DEDEFFE GEGEHHE

SIT down sad soul and countA
The moments flyingB
Come tell the sweet amountA
That s lost by sighingB
How many smiles a scoreC
Then laugh and count no moreC
For day is dyingB
-
Lie down sad soul and sleepD
And no more measureE
The flight of Time nor weepD
The loss of leisureE
But here by this lone streamF
Lie down with us and dreamF
Of starry treasureE
-
We dream do thou the sameG
We love for everE
We laugh yet few we shameG
The gentle neverE
Stay then till Sorrow diesH
Then hope and happy skiesH
Are thine for everE
