King Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABB CBBBB DEDEB ABABFB

King Death was a rare old fellowA
He sate where no sun could shineB
And he lifted his hand so yellowA
And poured out his coal black wineB
Hurrah for the coal black WineB
-
There came to him many a MaidenC
Whose eyes had forgot to shineB
And Widows with grief o'erladenB
For a draught of his sleepy wineB
Hurrah for the coal black WineB
-
The Scholar left all his learningD
The Poet his fancied woesE
And the Beauty her bloom returningD
Like life to the fading roseE
Hurrah for the coal black WineB
-
All came to the royal old fellowA
Who laugh'd till his eyes dropped brineB
As he gave them his hand so yellowA
And pledged them in Death's black wineB
Hurrah HurrahF
Hurrah for the coal black WineB
