WEARY WILL by A B quot Banjo quot PatersonA
-
The strongest creature for his sizeB
But least equipped for combatC
That dwells beneath Australian skiesB
Is Weary Will the WombatC
-
He digs his homestead undergroundD
He's neither shrewd nor cleverE
For kangaroos can leap and boundD
But wombats dig foreverE
-
The boundary rider's netting fenceF
Excites his irritationA
It is to his untutored senseF
His pet abominationA
-
And when to pass it he desiresG
Upon his task he'll centreE
And dig a hole beneath the wiresG
Through which the dingoes enterE
-
And when to block the hole they strainH
With logs and stones and rubbleI
Bill Wombat digs it out againJ
Without the slightest troubleI
-
The boundary rider bows to fateK
Admits he's made a blunderE
And rigs a little swinging gateK
To let Bill Wombat underE
-
So most contentedly he goesL
Between his haunt and burrowM
He does the only thing he knowsL
And does it very thoroughM
