Scene Federal Political ArenaA
A darkened cave In the middle a cauldron boilingB
Enter the three witchesC
ST WITCH Thrice hath the Federal Jackass brayedD
-
ND WITCH Once the Bruce Smith War horse neighedD
-
RD WITCH So Georgie comes 'tis time 'tis timeE
Around the cauldron to chant our rhymeE
-
ST WITCH In the cauldron boil and bakeF
Fillet of a tariff snakeF
Home made flannels mostly cottonG
Apples full of moths and rottenG
Lamb that perished in the droughtD
Starving stock from furthest outD
Drops of sweat from cultivatorsC
Sweating to feed legislatorsC
Grime from a white stoker's nobH
Toiling at a nigger's jobH
Thus the great Australian NationG
Seeks political salvationG
-
ALL Double double toil and troubleI
Fire burn and cauldron bubbleI
-
ND WITCH Heel taps from the threepenny barsC
Ash from Socialist cigarsC
Leathern tongue of boozer curstD
With the great Australian thirstD
Two up gambler keeping darkJ
Loafer sleeping in the parkJ
Drop them in to prove the sequelI
All men are born free and equalI
-
ALL Double double toil and troubleI
Fire burn and cauldron bubbleI
-
RD WITCH Lung of Labour agitatorK
Gall of Isaacs turning traitorK
Spleen that Kingston has revealedD
Sawdust stuffing out of NeildD
Mix them up and then combineL
With duplicity of LyneL
Alfred Deakin's gift of gabH
Mix the gruel thick and slabH
-
ALL Double double toil and troubleI
Heav'n help Australia in her troubleI
-
HECATE Oh well done I commend your painsC
And everyone shall share i' the gainsC
And now about the cauldron singB
Enchanting all that you put inM
Round about the cauldron goN
In the People's rights we'll throwN
Cool it with an Employer's bloodD
Then the charm stands firm and goodD
And thus with chaos in possessionG
Ring in the coming Fed'ral SessionG
