The Free Selector Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABC DDEE FDGH EEEE

Ye sons of industry to you I belongA
And to you I would dedicate a verse or a songA
Rejoicing o'er the victory John Robertson has wonB
Now the Land Bill has passed and the good time has comeC
-
No more with our swags through the bush need we roamD
For to ask of another there to give us a homeD
Now the land is unfettered and we may resideE
In a home of our own by some clear watersideE
-
On some fertile spot which we may call our ownF
Where the rich verdure grows we will build up a homeD
There industry will flourish and content will smileG
While our children rejoicing will share in our toilH
-
-
We will plant our garden and sow our own fieldE
And eat from the fruits which industry will yieldE
And be independent what we long for have strivedE
Though those that have ruled us the right long deniedE
