The Eumerella Shore Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB BBACA DBDB EEACA FBFB BBACA

There's a happy little valley on the Eumerella shoreA
Where I've lingered many happy hours awayB
On my little free selection I have acres by the scoreA
Where I unyoke the bullocks from the drayB
-
To my bullocks then I sayB
No matter where you strayB
You will never be impounded any moreA
For you're running running running on the duffer's piece of landC
Free selected on the Eumerella shoreA
-
When the moon has climbed the mountains and the stars are shining brightD
Then we saddle up our horses and awayB
And we yard the squatters' cattle in the darkness of the nightD
And we have the calves all branded by the dayB
-
Oh my pretty little calfE
At the squatter you may laughE
For he'll never be your owner any moreA
For you're running running running on the duffer's piece of landC
Free selected on the Eumerella shoreA
-
If we find a mob of horses when the paddock rails are downF
Although before they're never known to strayB
Oh quickly will we drive them to some distant inland townF
And sell them into slav'ry far awayB
-
To Jack Robertson we'll sayB
You've been leading us astrayB
And we'll never go a farming any moreA
For it's easier duffing cattle on the little piece of landC
Free selected on the Eumerella shoreA
