Oh the circus swooped downA
On the Narrabri townA
For the Narrabri populace moneyed areB
And the showman he smiledC
At the folk he beguiledC
To come all the distance from GunnedahC
But a juvenile smartC
Who objected to partC
Went in on the nod and to do it heD
Crawled in through a crackE
In the tent at the backE
For the boy had no slight ingenuityD
-
And says he with a grinF
That's the way to get inF
But I reckon I'd better be quiet orG
They'll spiflicate meD
And he chuckled for heD
Had the loan of the circus proprietorH
-
But the showman astuteC
On that wily galootC
Soon dropped you'll be thinking he leathered himI
Not he with a grimI
Sort of humourous whimI
He took him and tarred him and feathered himI
-
Says he You can goJ
Round the world with a showJ
And knock every Injun and Arab wryK
With your name and your tradeC
On the posters displayedC
The feathered what is it from NarrabriK
-
Next day for his freakL
By a Narrabri BeakL
He was jawed with a deal of verbosityC
For his only appealM
Was professional zealM
He wanted another monstrosityC
-
Said his Worship BegobN
You are fined forty bobN
And six shillin's costs to the clurk he saysO
And the Narrabri joyP
Half bird and half boyP
Has a down on himself and on circusesQ
