T.y.s.o.n. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEDFGFGHIHHI HAHABDBD JGJGKIKKI LMLMNONO MIJJIGGGI

Across the Queensland border lineA
The mobs of cattle goB
They travel down in sun and shineA
On dusty stage and slowB
The drovers riding slowly onC
To let the cattle spreadD
Will say Here's one old landmark goneE
For old man Tyson's deadD
What tales there'll be in every campF
By men that Tyson knewG
The swagmen meeting on the trampF
Will yarn the long day throughG
And tell of how he passed as BrownH
And fooled the local menI
But not for me I struck the townH
And passed the message further downH
That's T Y S O NI
-
There stands a little country townH
Beyond the border lineA
Where dusty roads go up and downH
And banks with pubs combineA
A stranger came to cash a chequeB
Few were the words he saidD
A handkerchief about his neckB
An old hat on his headD
-
A long grey stranger eagle eyedJ
Know me Of course you doG
It's not my work the boss repliedJ
To know such tramps as youG
Well look here Mister don't be flashK
Replied the stranger thenI
I never care to make a splashK
I'm simple but I've got the cashK
I'm T Y S O NI
-
But in that last great drafting yardL
Where Peter keeps the gateM
And souls of sinners find it barredL
And go to meet their fateM
There's one who ought to enter inN
For good deeds done on earthO
One who from Peter's self must winN
That meed of sterling worthO
-
Not to the strait and narrow gateM
Reserved for wealthy menI
But to the big gate opened wideJ
The grizzled figure eagle eyedJ
Will saunter up and thenI
Old Peter'll say Let's pass him throughG
There's many a thing he used to doG
Good hearted things that no one knewG
That's T Y S O NI
