A Song Of The Pen Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEF GHGH

Not for the love of women toil we we of the craftA
Not for the people's praiseB
Only because our goddess made us her own and laughedA
Claiming us all our daysB
Claiming our best endeavour body and heart and brainC
Given with no reserveD
Niggard is she towards us granting us little gainC
Still we are proud to serveD
-
Not unto us is given choice of the tasks we tryE
Gathering grain or chaffF
One of her favoured servants toils at an epic highE
One that a child may laughF
-
Yet if we serve her truly in our appointed placeG
Freely she doth accordH
Unto her faithful servants always this saving graceG
Work is its own rewardH
