Rhyme Scheme: ABCDC EFG HIJ EKEL LMNF OPJHQRS TUSVW

Parliament's a stageA
And all the Politicians merely playersB
They have their exits and entrancesC
And Wise doth in his time play many partsD
His acts being seven changesC
-
First the RunnerE
With spiked shoe he spurns the cinder trackF
And just for once runs straightG
-
The next the StudentH
Burning the midnight oil with Adam SmithI
For Cobden MedalsJ
-
Next the youthful memberE
With shining morning face creeping betweenK
Two seasoned leaders into place and powerE
Before his whiskers growL
-
The next the bravoL
Jealous of greater men he cries Ha HaM
Beware Bernardo's dagger and would strikeN
His friend i' th' backF
-
Then come a sudden changeO
Once more a child he comes with quick turned coatP
New friends new doctrines and new principlesJ
Lets Friedman loose and wrecks the GovernmentH
Then leads the horny handed sons of toilQ
By many a specious promise to their doomR
In Arbitration CourtsS
-
Last scene of allT
That ends this strange disastrous historyU
He aims at Judgeships and CommissionershipsS
But failing passes on to mere oblivionV
Sans place sans power sans pay sans everythingW
