Of all the docks upon the blueA
There was no dockyard old or newA
To touch the dock at CockatooA
-
Of all the ministerial clanB
There was no nicer worthier manB
Than Admiral O'SullivanC
-
Of course we mean E W-
O'Sullivan the hero who-
Controlled the dock at Cockatoo-
-
To workmen he explained his viewsD
You need not toil unless you chooseD
Your only work is drawing screwsD
-
And sometimes to their great surpriseE
When votes of censure filled the skiesE
He used to give them all a riseE
-
What odds about a pound or two-
Exclaimed the great E W-
O'Sullivan at Cockatoo-
-
The dockyard superintendent heF
Was not at all what he should beF
He sneered at all this sympathyF
-
So when he gave a man the sackG
O'Sullivan got on his trackG
And straightway went and fetched him backG
-
And with a sympathetic tearH
He'd say How dare you interfereI
You most misguided engineerI
-
Your sordid manners please amendJ
No man can possibly offendJ
Who has a Member for a friendJ
-
With euchre or a friendly rubK
And whiskey from the nearest 'pub'K
We'll make the dockyard like a clubK
-
Heave ho my hearties play awayL
We'll do no weary work todayL
What odds the public has to payL
-
And if the public should complainM
I'll go to Broken Hill by trainM
To watch McCarthy making rainM
-
And there with nothing else to do-
No doubt the great E W-
Will straightway raise McCarthy's screw-
