A Bunch Of Roses Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAB CBCCB DEDDB ABAAB FBFFB

Roses ruddy and roses whiteA
What are the joys that my heart disclosesB
Sitting alone in the fading lightA
Memories come to me here tonightA
With the wonderful scent of the big red rosesB
-
Memories come as the daylight fadesC
Down on the hearth where the firelight dozesB
Flicker and flutter the lights and shadesC
And I see the face of a queen of maidsC
Whose memory comes with the scent of rosesB
-
Visions arise of a scent of mirthD
And a ball room belle who superbly posesE
A queenly woman of queenly worthD
And I am the happiest man on earthD
With a single flower from a bunch of rosesB
-
Only her memory lives tonightA
God in his wisdom her young life closesB
Over her grave may the turf be lightA
Cover her coffin with roses whiteA
She was always fond of the big white rosesB
-
-
-
Such are the visions that fade awayF
Man proposes and God disposesB
Look in the glass and I see todayF
Only an old man worn and greyF
Bending his head to a bunch of rosesB

John S: Of all the Poets, near and far in time and space there is only one that seems to talk only to me. Thank heavens, or whatever passes for that in your neck of the woods for Banjo Paterson.
