Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF GHIJ KLMNOPQRSTUMVBWXYZA2 TB2C2D2IU

Outside my window the waspsA
are making their slow circleB
dizzy flights of forage and returnC
hovering among azaleasD
that bob in a sluggish breezeE
this humid sun torn morningF
-
Yesterday my wife held me hereG
as I thrashed and moaned her handH
in my foaming mouth and my sonI
saw what he was warned he mightJ
-
Last night dreams stormed my brainK
in thick swirls of shame and fearL
Behind a white garage a locked shedM
full of wide eyed dolls burnedN
yellow smoke boiling up in huge clumpsO
as I watched feet nailed to the groundP
In dining cars white table clothsQ
unfolded wings and flew like gullsR
An old German in a green HomburgS
sang lieder Mein Herz ist m deT
In a garden in Pasadena my fatherU
posed in Navy whites while overheadM
silver dirigibles moved like great whalesV
And in the narrowing tunnelB
of the dream s end I flew downW
onto the iron red roadX
of my grandfather s farmY
There was a white rail fenceZ
In the green meadow beyondA2
a small boy walked toward meT
His smile was the moon s rimB2
Across his egg shell eyesC2
ran scenes from my future lifeD2
and he embraced me like a sonI
or father or my lost brotherU
