The weight of his sin hung around his neckA
A millstone ready to pull him downB
An outcast was what he had becomeC

He barely hung on by a threadD
Ready to quitE
He was too ashamed to beg too dirty to blendF

The scorching sun beat on his backG
Jagged stones cut his feetH
Dirt clung to himI
-
Like a light at the end of the tunnelJ
Like a silver lining on a rainy dayK
He found hope one he held on strongly toL
-
The fountain of life was before himI
He washed himself and his robe shone in the lightM
He was freeN
-
The devil thought he had him but he ranO

Poet's note: This poem was written after my twentieth birthday. It was a difficult time for me, especially emotionally. After a while I felt peace and hope and I wrote about it.
