Not To Be Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EF GHH IJIJHH

THE rose said 'Let but this long rain be pastA
And I shall feel my sweetness in the sunB
And pour its fullness into life at last 'C
But when the rain was doneB
But when dawn sparkled through unclouded airD
She was not thereD
-
The lark said 'Let but winter be awayE
And blossoms come and light and I will soarF
And lose the earth and be the voice of day '-
But when the snows were o'erG
But when spring broke in blueness overheadH
The lark was deadH
-
And myriad roses made the garden glowI
And skylarks carolled all the summer longJ
What lack of birds to sing and flowers to blowI
Yet ah lost scent lost songJ
Poor empty rose poor lark that never trilledH
Dead unfulfilledH
