Farewell Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBCA DEFEFD EGHIHE

FAREWELL we two shall still meet day by dayA
Live side by sideB
But never more shall heart respond to heartC
Two stranger boats can drift adown one tideB
Two branches on one stem grow green apartC
Farewell I sayA
-
Farewell chance travellers as the path they treadD
Change words and smileE
And share their travellers' fortunes friend with friendF
And yet are foreign in their thoughts the whileE
Several alone save that one way they wendF
Farewell 'tis saidD
-
Farewell ever the bitter asphodelE
Outlives love's roseG
The fruit and blossom of the dead for usH
Ah answer me should this have been the closeI
To be together and be sundered thusH
But yet farewellE
