The Dogs Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDEEFFGH IIJJKKLLMMAA NNDCGHBB

My desires are upon me like dogs I beat them backA
Yet they yelp upon my trackA
And I know that my soul one day shall lie at their feetB
And my soul be these dogs' meatB
-
My soul walks robed in white where the saints sing psalmsC
Among the lilies and palmsD
Beholding the face of God through the radiant barsE
Of the mystical gate of starsE
The robes of my soul are whiter than snow she singsF
Praise of immortal thingsF
Yet still she listens still in the night she hearsG
The dogs' yelp in her earsH
-
O Most High I will pray look down through the sevenI
Passionate veils of heavenI
Out of eternal peace where the world's desireJ
Enfolds thee in veils of fireJ
Holy of Holies the immaculate LambK
Behold me the thing I amK
I the redeemed of thy blood the bought with a priceL
The reward of thy sacrificeL
I who walk with thy saints in a robe of whiteM
And who worship thee day and nightM
Behold me the thing I am and do thou beat backA
These feet that burn on my trackA
-
I have prayed God has heard I have prayed to him he has heardN
But he has not spoken a wordN
My soul walks robed in white among lilies and palmsD
And she hears the triumphing psalmsC
But louder than all by day and by night she hearsG
The dogs' yelp in her earsH
And I know that my soul one day shall lie at their feetB
And my soul be these dogs' meatB
