Renée Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGHI JKJK CLCL

Rain and the night and the old familiar doorA
And the archway dim and the roadway desolateB
Faces that pass and faces and more yet moreA
Ren e come for I waitC
-
Pallid out of the darkness adorably whiteD
Pale as the spirit of rain with the night in her hairE
Ren e undulates shadow like under the lightD
Into the outer airE
-
Mournful beautiful calm with that vague unrestF
Sad with that sensitive vaguely ironical mouthG
Eyes that flame with the loveliest deadliestH
Fire of her passionate youthI
-
Mournful beautiful sister of night and rainJ
Elemental fashioned of tears and fireK
Ever desiring ever desired in vainJ
Mother of vain desireK
-
Ren e comes to me she the sorceress FateC
Subtly insensible softly invincible sheL
Ren e who waits for another for whom I waitC
To linger a moment with meL
