On The Doorstep Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABA CDEC FFBF GGBG

Midnight long is over pastA
As we loiter and the rain falls fastA
As we loiter on your doorstepB
And the rain falls fastA
-
Will the watchful mother hearC
As we whisper is your mother nearD
Keeping there behind the curtainE
An attentive earC
-
But we have so much to sayF
As we linger ere I go my wayF
In the dark upon your doorstepB
We could talk till dayF
-
There is no one in the streetG
As I hold you in my arms my sweetG
As I kiss you on your doorstepB
As I kiss you for good night my sweetG
