Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFG BHFH IJK ELM

A beggar died last night his soulA
Went up to God and saidB
'I come uncalled forgive it LordC
I died for want of bread 'D
-
Then answered him the Lord of heavenE
'Son how can this thing beF
Are not my saints on earth and theyG
Had surely succoured thee '-
-
'Thy saints O Lord ' the beggar saidB
'Live holy lives of prayerH
How should they know of such as weF
We perish unawareH
-
'They strive to save our wicked soulsI
And fit them for the skyJ
Meanwhile not having bread to eatK
Forgive our bodies die '-
-
Then the Lord God spake out of heavenE
In wrath and angry painL
'O men for whom my Son hath diedM
My Son hath lived in vain '-
