IA
Your kisses and the way you curlB
Delicious and distracting girlB
Into one's arms and round aboutC
Luxuriously in and outC
Twining inextricably as twineD
The clasping tangles of the vineD
Strong to embrace and long to kissE
And strenuous for the sharper blissE
Insatiably enamoured ofF
The ultimate ecstasy of loveF
So loving to be loved so gayG
And greedy for our holidayG
And then how prettily you sleepH
You nestle close and let me keepH
My straying fingers in the nestI
Of your warm comfortable breastI
And as I lie and dream awakeJ
Unsleeping for your sleeping sakeJ
I feel the very pulse and heatK
Of your young life blood beat and beatK
With mine and you are mine my sweetK
IIA
The little bedroom papered redL
The gas's faint malodorous lightM
And one beside me in the bedL
Who chatters chatters half the nightM
-
I drowse and listen drowse againN
And still although I would not hearO
Her stream of chatter like the rainP
Is falling falling on my earO
-
The bed clothes stifle me I acheJ
With weariness my eyelids prickQ
I hate until I long to breakJ
That clock for its tyrannic tickQ
-
And still beside me through the heatK
Of this September night I feelR
Her body's warmth upon the sheetK
Burn through my limbs from head to heelR
-
And still I see her profile liftS
Its tiresome line above the hairT
That streams a dark and tumbled driftS
Across the pillow that I shareT
