Before Meeting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HIHI

I know not how our eyes first metA
I only know that night by nightB
For one long instant we forgetA
All but our instant of delightB
-
Child I have never heard you speakC
I know not of your face by dayD
Nor if the rose upon your cheekC
With night's spent roses faints awayD
-
So far apart from me you seemE
Ever about to be so nearF
I must have dreamed you in some dreamE
I do but dream that you are hereG
-
Well no awakening may there beH
I look to you in fairy landI
From fairy land you look to meH
We smile and seem to understandI
