At The Foresters Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABA CDCEC FGHIF JKJKJ LMLNL

The shadows of the gaslit wingsA
Come softly crawling down our wayB
Before the curtain someone singsA
The music sounds from far awayB
I lounge beside you in the wingsA
-
Prying and indiscreet the lightsC
Illumine if you haply moveD
The prince's dress the yellow tightsC
That fit your figure like a gloveE
You shrink a little from the lightsC
-
Divinely rosy rouged your faceF
Smiles with its painted little mouthG
Half tearfully a quaint grimaceH
The charm and pathos of your youthI
Mock the mock roses of your faceF
-
And there is something in your lookJ
Ambiguous independent FloK
As teasing as a half shut bookJ
It lures me till I long to knowK
The many meanings of your lookJ
-
The tired defiance of the eyesL
Pathetically whimsicalM
Childish and whimsical and wiseL
And now relenting after allN
The softer welcome of your eyesL
