Houses Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEFE GHIJ GIIJ KGLM E

People who are afraid of themselvesA
Multiply themselves into familiesB
And so divide themselvesA
And so become less afraidC
-
People who might have to go outD
Into clanging strangers' laughterE
Crowd under roofs make compactsF
To no more than smile at each otherE
-
People who might meet their own facesG
Or surprise their own voices in doorwaysH
Build themselves rooms without mirrorsI
And live between walls without echoesJ
-
People who might meet other facesG
And unknown voices round cornersI
Build themselves rooms all mirrorsI
And live between walls all echoesJ
-
People who are afraid to go nakedK
Clothe themselves in families housesG
But are still afraid of deathL
Because death one day will undress themM
