The Last Decalogue Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHHIIJJ

Thou shalt have one God only whoA
Would be at the expense of twoA
No graven images may beB
Worshipped except the currencyB
Swear not at all for for thy curseC
Thine enemy is none the worseC
At church on Sunday to attendD
Will serve to keep the world thy friendD
Honour thy parents that is allE
From whom advancement may befallE
Thou shalt not kill but need'st not striveF
Officiously to keep aliveF
Do not adultery commitG
Advantage rarely comes of itG
Thou shalt not steal an empty featH
When 'tis so lucrative to cheatH
Bear not false witness let the lieI
Have time on its own wings to flyI
Thou shalt not covet but traditionJ
Approves all forms of competitionJ
