Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMKNOPPQR| So I went wrong | A |
| Grievously wrong but folly crushed itself | B |
| And vanity o'ertoppling fell and time | C |
| And healthy discipline and some neglect | D |
| Labour and solitary hours revived | E |
| Somewhat at least of that original frame | F |
| Oh well do I remember then the days | G |
| When on some grassy slope what time the sun | H |
| Was sinking and the solemn eve came down | I |
| With its blue vapour upon field and wood | J |
| And elm embosomed spire once more again | K |
| I fed on sweet emotion and my heart | L |
| With love o'erflowed or hushed itself in fear | M |
| Unearthly yea celestial Once again | K |
| My heart was hot within me and me seemed | N |
| I too had in my body breath to wind | O |
| The magic horn of song I too possessed | P |
| Up welling in my being's depths a fount | P |
| Of the true poet nectar whence to fill | Q |
| The golden urns of verse | R |
